OK, so have any of you actually had experience with US Healthcare vs socialized health care? I used to think socialized Healthcare was great, untill I moved to a country that has it.

@yisraeldov US healthcare is the reason why I ended up not going to the hospital when I was hit by a van in 2018 as I couldn't afford health insurance. I'd rather deal with socialized healthcare even if it is slower and worse quality, as at least I'll actually get healthcare and not be in debt.

US healthcare is great, if you aren't poor.

Sucks for you. Have you experienced socialized health care first hand? I am paying now more for health tax than I was paying for health insurance in the US. Socialized Healthcare isn't free, you just don't get a choice.

@yisraeldov @amic somehow people think that if you provide nationwide healthcare that private one disappears. That's not true and I came from a country in which it's not true.

True where I live there is private health care along side public, I have used it for my kids. It is super expensive and it is no where near the level that I experienced in the US. Have you had good experience?

@yisraeldov @amic yea, I had good experience with both public and private insurance. Of course I also had bad ones with public one too but usually it's not too bad

@charlag @amic All of this is just anecdotal, but I have had awful experience with public heath care and even worse when compared with the type of care that I received in the US. I have been to the ER and in ambulances in both systems. I have also needed to see specialists in both systems. I also know plenty of people who fly to the US and pay out of pocket because that is the only place to receive the care they need. I just think that before bashing one system you should try the other.

@yisraeldov @amic honestly I didn't hear of anyone flying to US. To Europe - yes. Usually when it's something that is not covered by public health anyway.
I see no reason to argue, we clearly don't agree.

@charlag @amic I personally know of a handful of people who have flown to the US for treatment. I don't think we should argue, I just think that people who have never had public healthcare, think it is a silver bullet without experiencing it. Healthcare is complex, and posts like the OP don't do much to help it. G-d willing we should all be healthy and not need to think about healthcare.
