Trying @delta Very cool far, but a few oddities:
1. There's no way to export by public key without also exporting my private key.
There are good reason to make it easy to see your public key, and it's in the Autocrypt headers anyway, so make it easy to get to!
2. The read reciepts and other metadata messages are unecrypted. Not sure why this is. They're possibly sensitive metadata
3. Read receipts are stored on the server? Not sure why they're needed once used.

Look, pirating software is bad... but not for the reasons they tell you, usually because it's bait.

I started a #gemini zine or gemzine. It's called smolZINE. A little thing to curate some neat stuff that's on gemini on a regular basis. If that sounds like something you'd be into check it out.

COBOL - Built to Last
In this sense, COBOL and its scapegoating show us an important aspect of high tech that few in Silicon Valley, or in government, seem to understand. Older systems have value, and constantly building new technological systems for short-term profit at the expense of existing infrastructure is not progress. In fact, it is among the most regressive paths a society can take.
I've got my #gemini pod up and running! 🎉

Amazon had sales income of €44bn in Europe in 2020 but paid no corporation tax
Our tiny not-for-profit based in Ireland pays tax at the full rate. Meanwhile, Bezos doesn’t know what to do with his money and we don’t know if we can pay the rent next year.
Keir Starmer has said "Labour has not yet changed nearly enough for voters to place their trust in us, we are listening."
Perhaps he changed the party too far in the entirely wrong direction to lose that trust in the first place, maybe he should demonstrate he's listening by leaving and taking his flags with him cos his leadership is clearly not working out
covid, in-person meetings
Look, I know folks are all excited about being double vaccinated and want to throw things to 2019-levels of normal, but until we figure out vaccine effectiveness against the variants and whether folks will need boosters to keep their effectiveness I'm going to say that large in-person gatherings are about as irresponsible as they come.
That goes for users groups, schools, and all of the other things that believe that Fall is when we'll be in our vaccinated wonderland.
@leadore La Grange is very nice. I like Kristall too for some of it's unique features like supporting multiple protocols and it also runs ok on my Pinephone. The Amfora new tab page is a local gmi file so you can just write your own to replace it. I have mine with links to my capsules links page, aggregated feed page and my capsule home page.
Subscription-bound hardware is strange. Usually it becomes completely useless when you end your subscription. But in most cases you don't return the hardware, you just throw it somewhere and leave it there until it goes to waste.
Perfectly functioning hardware. Going to waste because you didn't subscribe to some weird service that might just went out of business. Is there any less eco-friendly business model? Maybe burning down rain forest.
