Inside the massive (and unregulated) world of surveillance tech:
⚠️ WARNING
Do NOT install #NewPipe through the Samsumg Galaxy Store!
A copy of #newpipe is currently distributed through the Samsung Galaxy Store by a third party. The package id of that version is identical to the officiail one (org.schabi.newpipe), but the signing keys differ.
Surprisingly, users running an outdated version recieve a notification to update their installed version with the one uploaded in the Galaxy Store.
"It might be impossible to escape from capitalism entirely, but while the world is crumbling, something is growing from within. And if we cultivate what sustains us instead of what destroys us, one day this something may replace state and capital as the dominant framework in which our lives unfold."

The second part of the Indigo Gaming #cyberpunk documentary was released the other day. Well worth a watch if you're interested in the genre and not just the latest contentious #game release.

Just found out about Nitter as a way to read public #Twitter without going through their JavaScript madness and it's *so much faster*.
Just replace the domain in any twitter.com URL with nitter.net and it'll load it.
Alternatively consider using one of the alternative Nitter instances to reduce load on the main one: https://github.com/zedeus/nitter/wiki/Instances
This seems useful. Someone’s big list of legally free Python books:

Chris Grey writes his last #Brexit blog post before Christmas, as usual both forensic and despairing about the cocktail of lies and incompetence which have brought us to this point https://chrisgreybrexitblog.blogspot.com/2020/12/brexit-debilitation.html

Emacs survey results are out! Lots of interesting tidbits: people love magit, ivy and flycheck, and a striking number of respondents are fairly new to Emacs! This seems great for the health of the community.
want to spend $60 on the cyberpunk genre without giving it to a game that will either kill you on the inside or just literally kill you?
some folks over at itch.io put together a cool bundle of games that directly support queer & poc indie devs!
