:BoostOK: I like to imagine that #Mastodon instances that have a large number of users like mastodon(.)social are like big cities like New York or San Francisco, and Mastodon instances that have a much smaller number of users is like a quaint little town in the countryside where everyone knows everyone. It depends on which you feel more comfortable being in.

dug my old thinkpad x220i and re-installed arch today. that is all.

lewd joke

@notapostie I found this (or maybe a similar one, I think there are several Bussys in France) on an algorithmically generated travel website last year and it was pretty great

Mastodon is cool but it lacks my favorite feature from birdsite which is the timeline jumping as soon as your eyes see an interesting post that you'll never find again

I'm pleased to note that even, my Mastodon server where the only letter you are allowed to post is "e", has seen increased activity in the last few days.

Thanks Eeeeelon!

didn't know mastodon had a official android app, neat!

Folks who are trying to convince friends to try out the Fediverse: I strongly recommend not talking about what's wrong or evil about other sites/platforms. Instead, perhaps try focusing on how much better it feels here, how much more human, more diverse, more organic it can be.

Just heard about Gabe Serbian's passing. Such a shame 😞

amab? afab??? nah mate i’m ahab. where the FUCK is that whale

very tempted to invest some money into a unicomp new model m... worth it?

I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.

Also, if you prefer to still follow twitter users without an account and without using a bot mirror for mastodon, you can use #Fritter, a pretty decent client for Android that doesn't need an account to work, available on f-droid
