@PublicLewdness Agree on the FOSS engines - I've been playing through a number of VNs that used onscripter/onscripter-en/ponscripter, and looking at trying more Ren'Py-built VNs, including free ones. You may know better than me - but I believe it's relatively easy for devs to produce Linux versions of their games using some of the FOSS engines compared to proprietary alternatives.

@PublicLewdness Fair enough - and I'll say that while I don't have a personal issue with using Wine, I do prefer native Linux games and I hope we see more of them, granting Wine/Proton may be a detriment to that goal. I'm more flexible on open source for games than on other software - my greater interest for games is DRM status. I think the move toward essentially renting software is no good. If I buy from Steam, I have a strong preference for games like AA and KAS that are DRM-free.
@PublicLewdness If you mean Kaori After Story - it ran perfectly for me (using Manjaro) despite the lack of a native Linux version. I installed it locally with Lutris (Kaori After Story is also DRM-free even from Steam) and everything worked with Lutris's default install configuration - did not notice any issues. This reminds me that I should add a ProtonDB report.
I published a long review of ACE Academy, an English-language visual novel by PixelFade Studios available on Steam.

Finally, I note that although ACE Academy for computers is a Steam game, it is clandestinely DRM-free.
I also covered Kendo Crush!, the original 2014 demo that turned into ACE Academy in 2016.

ACE Academy stars an American studying giant robot piloting at a Japanese college in 2049. While it has sci-fi elements and robot fights, it is primarily a slice-of-life game.

I am one man. I cast one vote. Why then, I wonder, did I receive two "I Voted!" stickers?

As I head to the polls, I reflect on Harry Wilson's very expensive efforts to win my vote with direct mail.
