It seems to me that, on at least, if you want to run it's also a good idea to at least install alongside it. So many useful utilities that go well together.

@matt That was actually my biggest issue with going minimalist. It's not so bad on the desktop, but I came to love XFCE because I was using so many parts of it anyway.

And also hooray for modularity.

@matt for sure, I use awesome sometimes but I always install it on top of gnome because otherwise there is just way too much stuff missing.
