and nope, it isn't my fault
Anyone here using #Mixxx? I love the software, but I don't get why it won't show the duration for any of the tracks in my library. What am I missing?

Wine 4.0 released!
This release represents a year of development effort and over 6,000 individual changes. It contains a large number of improvements that are listed in the release notes below. The main highlights are:
* Vulkan support.
* Direct3D 12 support.
* Game controllers support.
* High-DPI support on Android.
The source is available now. Binaries are being built, and will appear soon at their download locations.
I was going to announce it a bit later and more properly, but Mastodon received a $70k grant from Samsung NEXT through OpenCollective. I intend to make it available to those who contribute to the project, and have already notified some of the most regular contributors. The way OpenCollective works is that anyone can submit an expense and all transactions are listed transparently. It also holds the money.
As for myself, I intend to continue using Patreon for my own wage/costs.
I just realized the other day that Chrome has removed the “Bookmark this URL” from the link context menus. Also you can’t drag links/bookmarklets into the bookmark toolbar anymore? Are they on a quest to kill the bookmark? When did that happen? Remarkable that users are still willing to use this browser..
"i use linux as my operating system," i state proudly to the unkempt, bearded man. he swivels around in his desk chair with a devilish gleam in his eyes, ready to mansplain with extreme precision.
"actually," he says with a grin, "linux is just the kernel. you use GNU+linux."
i don't miss a beat and reply with a smirk, "i use alpine, a distro that doesn't include the GNU coreutils, or any other GNU code. it's linux, but it's not GNU+linux."
the smile quickly drops from the man's face. his body begins convulsing and he foams at the mouth as he drop to the floor with a sickly thud. as he writhes around he screams "I-IT WAS COMPILED WITH GCC! THAT MEANS IT'S STILL GNU!"
coolly, i reply "if windows was compiled with gcc, would that make it GNU?" i interrupt his response with "and work is being made on the kernel to make it more compiler-agnostic. even if you were correct, you won't be for long."
with a sickly wheeze, the last of the man's life is ejected from his body. he lies on the floor, cold and limp. i've womansplained him to death.
I ditched elementaryOS after almost two years and I it's the best thing I've done in a while.
Looking from the outside it feels really strange that the elementary-team is trying to rebuild all these apps for their essentially closed appcenter ecosystem.
Interestingly I never really used any of the eos-apps and I don't miss them at all. Also I'm *so* happy to finally be able to change the UI design (I'm on Budgie now)
elementaryos rant, sorry
So, @elementary Juno was released yesterday but there is no mention anywhere in the release announcement or installation guide about how to update from eOS Loki. Googling around brought up an github issue about this from March 2017. Apparently there's a $25 bounty on this, lol.
On reddit someone wrote you have to re-install the whole OS but I swear if they make me do this I'm gonna distro-hop right away.
Wow! Microsoft is opening up 60 000 patents for free use by anyone in the Open Invention Network (OIN).
They've also joined LOT, an anti-patent troll group.
"as late as 2014, Microsoft made approximately $3.4 billion from its Android patents."
This is amazing! As @kaniini says, we still need to be vigilant about MS, but there's no denying this is a huge deal! https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft-open-sources-its-entire-patent-portfolio/ #patents
