Our CEO just referred to SaaS as "Software as a hostage" and I think that's pretty spot on.

In an amicus brief filed today on behalf of leading computer security researchers, EFF asked the Supreme Court to make clear that violating terms of service isn't a crime under the CFAA eff.org/press/releases/eff-ask

Update: the whole Atlassian suite is compromised, data is lost and can't be restored. We're all under a strict no-VPN-and-don't-come-to-the-office-either policy until next week at best.

Lost data can't be restored.

The former system administrator in me is laughing so hard right now.

"There's an attack underway. Outlook is compromised, Teams is compromised, the VPN is compromised. Please don't use these until further notice."

Last week I got pretty burned out on social media and its dramatics, and the weird jacked up feeling it gives my nervous system. It's not Mastodon specifically, which is still the best social media, but social media as a whole, and the tendency to fall into a "scroll-hole" to see what's next.

So I'm pulling back a bit, to give my noggin time to be and relax. Trying to read more books and chill out by candle light with a cup o' tea or a glass o' vino a little more often.
