@nick0515 E-mail is insecure by design and a lot of governments monitor the traffic. E-mail is convenient though, but for instant messaging I prefer XMPP myself. :)

@nick0515 @hund I use #Conversations extensively and love it.

On the desktop, #XMPP clients that support #OMEMO include #Gajim and #Dino. I'm a #GTK user myself so I'm not sure about clients for other toolkits. I've also used the webclient that can be added to #Nextcloud but I don't actually remember if it supports OMEMO.

You'll also need a server. I run #Prosody on one of my #DigitalOcean droplets but Conversations will let you sign up for an account on there's for free as will a few others.
