My Mom got a new phone 6 months ago and only shared her new # with me and 3 others. Months later she bought a new laptop and registered Microsoft Word (which apparently requires her phone # now?). A day or two later she started getting a stream of telemarketing calls. #privacy

If you, like me, want the option of auto deleting old toots, 'Forget' seems to do the trick!

You can use faves to tag ones you want kept (viral ones, important conversations, etc), toggle to include or exclude media posts, choose how long you want your untagged toots left up and how many toots back it'll go before it starts doing its thing. forget.codl.fr #meta #delete

Surprise surprise 😱

"Google has been accused of breaking promises to patients, after the company announced it would be moving a healthcare-focused subsidiary, DeepMind Health, into the main arm of the organisation."

theguardian.com/technology/201 (via @jcbrand )

Reminder that patients did not even give consent to this data going to Google in the first place:

Google has no problem breaking privacy promises. They cannot be trusted.

Not to mention GDPR requests for consent, which frequently use dark UI patterns to make it obtusely difficult to opt out of tracking and advertising cookies.

Happy with being tracked? Sure, just click this "Accept" button.

Don't want to be tracked? Here, uncheck these 412 checkboxes by hand listing everywhere we might sell your data to.

... Seriously? Watch as I close this tab and never revisit your site.

Same goes for hiding content under "please don't ad-block" dialogs. Leave. Me. Alone.
