Apple is going to install a scanning system on its phones that reduces user privacy and security. That’s not something we should stay quiet about. https://act.eff.org/action/tell-apple-don-t-scan-our-phones

@nextcloud
When can we expect a version 21 Snap package release?
@s31bz if you figure out a way do update us. Got one laying here dormant for the last like 3 years.
@omnipotens sure that'd be great. I'm testing by running a VM with Proxmox on an old laptop.
@omnipotens hey do you have any preferred tutorial to spinning up a Mastodon instance or preferred method in hindsight?

@omnipotens @architect All this and he's not even sworn in yet. It's crazy.

@architect have to get what you can now. Who knows what will happen.
I am not certain but I thought it was illegal to delete or remove public comments by the POTUS. Eg. Trump couldn't go back and delete a stupid tweet, and I agree some of them were stupid. But shouldn't or wouldn't that law pertian to Twitter as well?
@malin @omnipotens that's just factually incorrect. There were and have been Parler posts that have been taken down. Breaking the law isn't tolerated or given the green light hiding behind "free speech". The idea that Parler was just some mainstream silk road anything goes platform is exactly what mainstream media wanted it painted to be.
@omnipotens I agree. The cloud is a great resource. And can be used to great profitable degree, but it should be appended to your work flow and business model. Not consume it. Ideally you should be in a position where you are really hurt if the cloud providers turn on your business, but not snuffed out by it.

Interesting observation:
Tested out @nextcloud #Talk with my parents the other day. Turned out to have the best video quality we've seen from any service so far. Including Zoom, FaceTime, Duo.
Tellico, KDE's collection organizer app, releases version 3.3. Organize music, books, films, TV, series, even coins. Give Tellico some basic info and it will download CD covers, release dates, and all the other data you need to keep tabs on each item.
@linuxpaulm heard about that. I agree, he had it coming. Heard he sold one for $70. Talk about taking advantage of someone who needs it in a time of national emergency.
I urge you guys to use this easy auto email tool to reach out to your local representative to give your voice against this new bill they're trying to pass. It sets the stage for a sad hugely invasive future.
