Should I do a .dotfiles repo for my configs? 🤔
@Ghosty I always end up making one but not updating it often enough to be really useful lol
@semordnilap I think I’ll do one and use symlinks so that I don’t have to copy them :D.
@Ghosty I’m in rather 2 minds of doing one for mine. If I did, everyone would see my terrible hacked together config files that have very little structure to them
@LibertyPaulM That’s true. I think I’ll do one. Maybe that’ll "force" me to organize my configs :D
@Ghosty yes! It becomes super useful. Check out my repo. I've got a alias that uses a bare git repo to track your dotfiles with git.
It's really cool when you can sync your theme across your laptop and desktop, or go back to a 6 month old theme. Haha.
@kensp Oki! I’ll look into it then!
@Ghosty I use stow which does the symlinks. It can remove them well.
@chozron noice! Imma take a look at that for sure! :D
@Ghosty of you do store door files in a public got, always review, review, and review to ensure no secrets or sensitive data is tracked in the history ;)
@benoitj uhmm..... uhmmmmm.... I have nothing to hide :p
